Summer vacations are just around the corner! Need to add a futuristic book (or two) to your TBR list? Our Hidden Gems ARC readers loved the following sci-fi books, and we bet you will, too.

Hamartia

Hamartia by Raquel Rich

With 35+ ratings and a 4.5 star average, Hamartia is the first in a thrilling time traveler series by Raquel Rich. In this installment, Grace is in a race through time to save her son – or humanity.

Scott P. explains in his five star Amazon review, “When Grace gets the nod to participate in a secret clinical trial that holds a shadow of a hope to save her son’s life, she’s taken on a desperate roller coaster ride that involves time travel, soul cloning, intrigue, ethical dilemmas, and sacrifice…Time travel stories are always fraught with paradox, but Rich is able to pull off hers without it becoming too complicated or convoluted. The key is she keeps revealing just enough to move the story along…”

“…The pacing, twists and turns in this book kept me racing through it,” Zoe R. concurs in her five star Amazon review. “The emotional journey was heavily charged too, with relatable, highly flawed characters…”

Thrill Switch

Thrill Switch by Tim Hawken

With 40+ ratings and a 4.6 star average, Thrill Switch is a futuristic homicide tale for readers who are looking for gritty & sci-fi books. The Amazon listing notes that this title include adult language and references to sexual abuse.

“An outstandingly well written dark fantasy epic adventure,” Aviar S. raves in their five star Amazon review. “I loved it!!! Each page was exciting and full of action. Tim Hawken is now on my must read author list.”

J. Bickley concurs in their five star Amazon review, “…I was completely enthralled by this book. it really hits the ground running, so to speak. The action is great, it moves quickly, and the visual imagery was well done. I was able, for the most part to envision what the author was describing. The characters were vibrant, and easy to either love or hate. There are also several total twists that I did not see coming. I always love those kind of moments, when an author is able to pull that off. Hawken pulls it off wonderfully…”

His Terrible Stall

His Terrible Stall by Laura Montgomery

With 20+ ratings and a 4.5 star average, His Terrible Stall is the fifth and final installment of the Martha’s Sons series by Laura Montgomery. In this tale, Peter Dawe must protect those who are stranded in a far flung colony world in space. Reviewers do recommend that you read this series of sci-fi books in order, but it is worth the journey!

Sharper writes in their five star Amazon review, “Laura Montgomery writes masterfully about conflicts between families and societies. His Terrible Stall begins with a bang, jumps into the action, and without spoilers, explains much of the backstory behind the ending of the previous book…Read the whole series, and if you’ve already read the other books, know that with this story, Laura continues to perfect her craft and provide an awesome space colony adventure with a side of fascinating societal conflict, so consume it right away.”

Dawn M. concurs in her five star Amazon review, “It’s rare I get to Book 5 of a series and think that a story has plenty left to tell, but this is one of those stories…That is what this story is about: ordinary people growing and learning whom to trust, and in doing do accomplishing extraordinary things…one small step at a time.”

The Keystone

The Keystone by Seren Goode

Ingrid V. explains in her five star Goodreads review, “A well-curated book of mysterious cases and a group of children trying to find their parents. Ingenious as the power of children comes to light in this book…”

In her five star Goodreads review, Margot F raves, “…This book grabs you in the beginning and never lets go. This is true edge-of-your-seat adventure and I loved it! The characters are irresistible and the twisty, dark drama is compelling. The story is unusual and kept me guessing.
